Ontario, CA ‘Tent City’, 2009: One Year After Colored Wristbands
I went to the ‘tent city’ in Ontario CA Sunday 4/4/09 to see if I could get any footage or interviews with residents. I walked the perimeter on the public sidewalk and found one young man in his 20′s who was in his car going through some paperwork. He said he lived there, and when I asked him about the colored wristbands mentioned in an LA Times article. He said “oh, that was a long time ago, over a year’. He was correct, as the LA Times article recently circulated is from March 18, 2008. Read it here: ‘Ontario residents only’ at Tent City March 18, 2008 www.latimes.com He was not wearing a wristband. Two other guys didn’t want to talk on camera. A woman resident then started cursing and shouting to the security guard that I was taking pictures. I was then approached by a SECURITAS security guard who was patrolling the property. He said he had been called by a resident who didn’t want anyone taking pictures. he said the camp was based after Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s camps in the Arizona desert. He spoke of the damage the Democratic party had done to the state. I told him I was a libertarian and he said he’s surprised the Republican party didn’t support Ron Paul. I told him I was doing some freelance work to submit for a story for INFOWARS. The guard knew of Alex Jones, who he had heard on George Noory’s show on Clearchannel’s KFI. He said “Alex is pretty sharp on stuff, he knows what’s going on”. I noted how the camp was nearly empty, and the guard explained they kicked …
way to go martin/garko…that security guard was really cool…
i really like this kind of “citizen journalism” you guys do…
its the only way were going to get honest reporting….
we’ve given up on mainstream media in this house….
keep up the fine work….look forward to more on this !
thanks for the effort. 5 stars
That is what a security person paid by our taxes should act like…. Thanx for the vid…..
thanks
you’re right. too bad most cops arent this professional eh?
Hey there my friend. I’m with Cal Poly Pomona and we are doing a video on Tent city for a school project that is based on the informal use of space. Basically what we are curious about is the outcome of contacting some of these people from the city and if they allowed you to enter or get access for interviews inside tent city?
Sense when does securitas officers get paid by our tax money. They get paid by the client. DUHHHHH. If we did get tax money I would like to see it added to my already great paycheck.
I wave the AIG flag because that’s what my taxes go to. them and every other bank that gets bailout money instead of helping the homeless !
God help us all
El que hizo este video es un guarada fustrado.
actually security isnt supposed to police public sidewalks. And any citizen has a constitutional right to film as long as your not on private property. Once again these rent a cops feel like to above and beyond their call of duty. Dont taze me bro
Umm… Securitas is a private company, the guard works for them and is opayd by them. Yes the goverment pays to the company to do the job but still, i think there is a difference.
